Mavericks can finally stop holding their breath about Luka Doncic
After perhaps having the best season of his career as a Maverick, Doncic finished third in the NBA MVP vote. He is recognized for leading the Mavericks, who were seeded fifth, all the way to the NBA Finals.
On the other hand, Doncic has been playing with fire ever since his worrying knee sprain injury during the postseason.
It was once stated that if these had been regular-season games, Doncic would have missed several weeks of action. Now that his international season is over, Dallas supporters may finally exhale relief.
Slovenia loses, allowing Luka Doncic to finally get the rest he needs.
Slovenia was eliminated from the pre-Olympic qualifications on Saturday after losing to Greece and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Slovenia is no longer eligible to compete in the Olympics.
Even though Doncic scored 21 points and made 7 of 14 shots in the defeat, it’s obvious that this team has changed since Slovenian players last played last summer.
Doncic has been dealing with ailments that would often require weeks to recover, and it’s likely that playing with a damaged knee made his problems worse. In addition to his knee problem, he had to have injections to relieve pain from a thoracic contusion during the NBA Finals.
Doncic has made the decision to play for Slovenia in the pre-Olympic qualifiers this summer, representing his nation following the regular season and postseason. While he battled ailments throughout the playoffs, some saw this as a hazardous decision to add more reps to his impressive 2023–24 campaign.
While some people find it regrettable that Doncic and his squad had to leave early, in the long run, a player’s profession requires recuperation so that they can return for the following season. Mavs supporters no longer have to worry about their breath going out every time Luka falls to the ground with blood on his knee or draws a charge. With any luck, Doncic will recuperate completely in time for the upcoming season.
