Four-Star Edge Rusher Chooses LSU Over Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio — As anticipated, Ohio State’s 2025 defensive line class did not progress on Friday.
Four-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin has committed to LSU, choosing them over Ohio State and Alabama. The Indianapolis native, who once considered Ohio State his dream school due to his Buckeye fandom, is ranked as the No. 110 overall prospect and the No. 10 edge rusher in the 2025 class.
LSU’s recruiting class is gaining momentum with 15 commitments, including two five-stars and 12 four-stars. Despite this, Ohio State still holds the top spot for 2025 but will need to fend off competition from Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and now LSU.
Currently, Ohio State has five defensive linemen committed in their class: Zion Grady, Zahir Mathis, London Merritt, Maxwell Riley, and Trajen Odom.
Earlier in the week, Ohio State missed out on in-state edge rusher Justin Hill, who announced his commitment to Alabama.
