Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Sends Bold Message to SEC
As the 2024 college football season approaches, Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns are seen as serious contenders for the national championship.
Expectations for the upcoming season have increased dramatically following the team’s run to the College Football Playoffs the previous season. The Longhorns will need a huge season from their star quarterback if they are to realize their full potential.
Texas’s admission to the SEC in 2024 is a major plot point. Even though their schedule is far tougher and more competitive than the Big 12, the Longhorns rise to the top of the conference right away.
Even before the season started, Ewers made a strong statement to the other SEC teams.
It’s unquestionably at a different level. My dream has always been to compete in the SEC. I know that attending a conference like that excites us all. We certainly recognize that we are everyone’s biggest game, as you mentioned.”
This season, the SEC has a wide range of teams who might be serious contenders.
In terms of contention, Alabama will be first on the list as usual. This season, the Georgia Bulldogs are also strong contenders.
Ewers hopes to have a much better season than the one he experienced in 2023. Although he produced well last year, in 2024 he will be expected to perform even more.
Ewers completed 69.0 percent of his throw attempts for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions in the 2023 campaign. In addition, he ran for five touchdowns. Raising his totals to about 3,800 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions would be a logical objective.
In addition to having a stellar playing career at Texas, he is among the country’s most accomplished NIL athletes. He is ranked No. 4 in college football and No. 5 overall among NIL athletes by On3. At present, his NIL valuation is at $1.9 million.
Having said that, Ewers want to play for his football career as well. One of the best quarterback prospects available for the 2025 NFL draft is thought to be him.
A chance to challenge Shedeur Sanders for the title of first quarterback selected in the draft will present itself if he improves his game even more and leads the Longhorns to a National Championship.
