Los Angeles Lakers Sign Dalton Knecht On A Four Years Rookie Contract.
The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed their 2024 draft picks, Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, as announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka. The terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Dalton Knecht, selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, stands at 6’5” and weighs 212 pounds. Last season at the University of Tennessee, Knecht averaged 21.7 points (with shooting percentages of 45.8% FG, 39.7% 3P, and 77.2% FT), 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 36 games, all of which he started. He was named the 2023-24 SEC Player of the Year, earned First Team All-America honors, and ranked third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage. Throughout his 103 career Division I games (79 starts) at Tennessee and Northern Colorado (2021-23), Knecht averaged 16.9 points (46.1% FG, 38.3% 3P, 76.8% FT), 5.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
Bronny James, chosen with the 55th overall pick, is 6’2” and weighs 210 pounds. During his single season at the University of Southern California in 2023-24, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games, including six starts. Originally from Akron, Ohio, James attended Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, where he was named a McDonald’s All-American after his senior season, averaging 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals.
Knecht will wear jersey No. 4 for the Lakers, while James will don No. 9. Both players are set to participate in the Lakers’ summer league team later this month.
