Marlins All-Star slugger seen as possible blockbuster trade option for Phillies
In the Luis Robert Jr. sweepstakes, Philadelphia was once predicted to be a top buyer, but that likelihood is dwindling.
But now the Phillies have a blockbuster trade target in another NL outfielder. Philadelphia would benefit greatly from the addition of Miami Marlins Jazz Chisholm Jr., according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic on Wednesday.
According to Bowden, Chisholm is the position player who is most likely to be traded between now and July 30. “With his unique combination of speed and power, many evaluators believe that Chrisholm, 26, will eventually join the 30-home run/30-stolen base club. He is only entering his prime years. He has 10 home runs, 14 steals, and a.330 slugging percentage this year. His OPS+ is 113. He played middle infield last year, but some organizations see him as a center fielder, while others are more intrigued in him as a middle infielder. In any case, it appears that if Miami receives the best offer during the next five weeks, he will be traded. He would be a great addition to the Giants or Phillies.
In addition to filling a defensive void for Philadelphia, Chisholm would make the team’s already strong lineup possibly the most formidable in all of Major League Baseball.
