Tensions in the paddock are running high following the Monaco Grand Prix with both Red Bull and Mercedes facing serious conundrums ahead of next weekend’s trip to Montreal.
The reigning champions gained just eight points between their two cars in the Principality as Charles Leclerc cut into Max Verstappen’s championship lead with his first victory of the year and Carlos Sainz helped Ferrari close in at the top of the Constructors’ Championship standings.
Elsewhere, emotions boiled over at Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton was left enraged by another defeat in the qualifying head-to-head duel against George Russell. The 39-year-old hinted at favouritism towards his team-mate after a rough weekend in the Principality.
Aston Martin was also an unhappy place to be. Lance Stroll crashed out from the outside of the top 10 following some smart strategy work from Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard himself was angered after spending most of the race thinking he was running one spot higher than he actually was.
