Alabama Football seemingly has a new top quarterback target in 2025 recruiting class
Under Kalen DeBoer, the Alabama football team has worked hard on the recruiting trail. As of this summer, they have ten commitments, ranking them as the eighth-best recruiting class in the country. With no quarterback committed, the position where the Crimson Tide have yet to land a commitment is the one that everyone is most concerned about.
In the early days of the Kalen DeBoer regime, Alabama seemed focused in trading quarterbacks, namely Texas commit KJ Lacey, Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight, and USC commit Julian Lewis. But it looks like Keelon Russell, an SMU commit, has emerged as the Crimson Tide’s new top target in recent months.
Playing for Duncanville in Texas, Russell is the eighth-ranked quarterback in the nation and the 75th best player overall. Given that Keelon Russell is a skilled passer and can outmuscle opponents, Kalen DeBoer probably perceives a similar style of play in Russell. Like Milroe, Russell will need to go to the next level in the area of processing and analyzing a defense.
Russell appears to be the Tide’s primary priority as they expect to invite him for an official visit this week and offer him a scholarship in April.
Keelon Russell has to be lured away from his in-state school, SMU, by the Tide in order to beat out other possible suitors like Florida and Oregon.
Russell said the following when discussing the possibility of switching his commitment from SMU to Alabama:
“I feel like Bama just has everything a Quarterback wants.”
– Kellon Russell
The Alabama football team needs to believe that they are the team to beat in terms of flipping Keelon Russell going into the summer recruiting window. Russell will be on campus for the first week of summer workouts, giving the Crimson Tide their first opportunity to flip him. Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class would benefit greatly from adding a quarterback because they usually draw in a large pool of other offensive talent.
Massive Summer recruiting period ahead for the Crimson Tide
It will be a crucial summer for the Alabama football team in terms of recruiting the class of 2025 and 2026. Eight four-star recruits and Alabama Football pledges Zachary Smith, Derek Smith, and others this weekend. Duke Johnson and six Alabama Targets will be in town the next weekend. Ten talented candidates will join the team during the week of June 14–16, and they will be available for the remainder of the month.
