Lakers coach Search: Frontrunner candidate For The LA HC Job Unveil

The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking for a head coach, and they are taking their time to identify the right candidate. A few individuals have already been mentioned, and the front office has listed a few distinct traits they are searching for.

Former NBA guard JJ Redick is one name that has been perceived as the front-runner. Despite having no prior coaching experience, Redick has credibility in the industry because he is currently an ESPN basketball podcaster and commentator.

During his Friday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, NBA Insider Shams Charania revealed the leading candidate for the Lakers’ open position. Additionally, he said that while there are still some interviews to be conducted in Los Angeles, teams from other leagues are making connections.

“Going into this process and right now, my sense is that JJ Redick, he is the guy around the league that everyone believes is the frontrunner for this job.”

In recent weeks, Redick’s name has been more well-known for the Lakers position, in part because of his relationship with LeBron James.

“JJ Redick is currently the talk of the town, both because of his immediate talent and his potential as the Lakers’ coach for many years to come. That person is undoubtedly young enough in the business and in the relationship to feel as though you have four, five, or six years ahead of you with a man like JJ Redick.”

Redick’s hiring by the Lakers would be considered a risky move in the end. However, the L.A. front office will strongly believe in his ability to perform the job given his extensive knowledge of the game.

The Lakers need to get this right, regardless of who gets hired. If Redick takes over as coach, it will be his third since the 2019–20 campaign, and it is hoped he can stay in the position for many years.
