In a statement released by the team on behalf of the Wakefield family, the former Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield’s wife confirmed his passing on Wednesday.
Less than five months after her husband’s death from brain cancer, Stacy Wakefield went unexpectedly at home in Massachusetts from pancreatic cancer.Tim Wakefield was fifty-seven years old.
“The loss is unfathomable, particularly considering that Tim passed away less than five months ago. Our hearts are shattered beyond repair. The family released a statement saying, “We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful, and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come.”
“We are incredibly grateful that she was in our lives, and we find solace in the knowledge that she will see her true love, Tim, again. We express our gratitude to every physician, nurse, and caregiver who assisted Stacy from her diagnosis to the present day.”
“We will always be appreciative of your exceptional assistance and concern. And we sincerely appreciate your kindness to everyone who has given well wishes over the past few months. While we attempt to grieve this significant loss, we respectfully request privacy at this time.
Wakefield’s children, Trevor and Brianna, outlive him.
